The province of Shandong will hold a large-scale business promotional event to boost cooperation with Fortune Global 500 companies in the coming two months.

The "Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500" event, jointly hosted by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the Shandong Provincial People's Government and organized by the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, will consist of five special activities for Fortune Global 500 companies from Europe, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the United States, South Korea and Japan.

The Europe special will be held on Aug 27, while the ASEAN special on Sept 22, the US special on Sept 29, the South Korea special on Oct 22 and the Japan special on Oct 27. 

Multinational companies and industry leaders represented by the Fortune Global 500 are important driving forces for economic globalization, scientific and technological innovation and industrial reform, said a local official.

"They play an irreplaceable role in stabilizing the global industrial chain and supply chain, optimizing the industrial structure of Shandong province and building a new highland for opening up to the outside world," he said.

Local authorities said that the event will facilitate Shandong's ties with Fortune Global 500 as well as stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment.

In light of the ongoing pandemic, the event will take place mainly via online channels.

The province's 16 cities will also host a series of supporting activities to further cooperation with multinational corporations.
