Shandong University listed among world's top 200

Shandong University has for the first time been included on the top 200 global ranking of universities.

According to the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) that was released on Aug 15, Shandong University occupies the 163rd spot, according to ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.

Starting from 2003, ARWU has been presenting the world top universities annually based on transparent methodology and objective third-party data. It has been recognized as the precursor of global university rankings and one of the most trustworthy rankings of its kind.

Shandong University, under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, is a key comprehensive university with a long history, a variety of disciplines, strong academic strength, and distinctive characteristics, which has great influence both at home and abroad. It is a member university of Project 211 and Project 985, two national key construction projects supporting the development of high-quality universities.

Six Chinese universities have entered the list of the world's top 100 universities. Tsinghua University occupied the 29th spot, while Peking University is 49th. Zhejiang University was ranked 58th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University was ranked 63rd, the University of Science and Technology of China was ranked 73rd, and Fudan University was ranked 100th.
