Linyi leverages livestreaming to boost sales

Linyi city in Shandong province has been leveraging livestreaming to promote products and facilitate sales.
Linyi is a logistics hub and a well-known wholesale market for small commodities in northern China.
"In order to boost the sales of local products, we have decided to establish a live stream e-commerce base," said Du Qingming, a local official.
Besides livestreaming celebrities, local officials have also played a part in promoting local products online.
With the help of the Linyi government, a local bank has launched a special e-commerce loan to help merchants with their livestreaming endeavors.
Linyi is presently home to over 1,100 e-commerce businesses that generate retail sales of more than 20 billion yuan ($2.86 billion) through livestreams.
