Dezhou revs up as industrial powerhouse

Dezhou, Shandong province has launched a three-year (2020-2022) action plan to build itself into an industrial powerhouse by expanding strategic emerging industries, upgrading and digitalizing traditional sectors and advancing the producer services industry.

The city aims to form six industrial clusters each worth over 40 billion yuan ($5.65 billion) and boost the revenue of industrial enterprises above designated size to more than 400 billion yuan by 2022.

Dezhou will help the Shandong provincial capital economic circle better integrate into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and will serve as a transformation base for scientific and technological achievements for Beijing, Tianjin and Jinan.

The city will focus on strategic emerging industries such as digital economy, intelligent manufacturing, and new materials to foster new economic growth drivers.

Dezhou has also launched a three-year (2020-2022) action plan to boost intelligent manufacturing and the industrial internet, as the long-predicted convergence of the IT and industrial sectors picks up momentum.

The city will promote new infrastructure construction, including 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, industrial internet and internet of things facilities, to promote industrial upgrading, boost digital consumption, foster drivers of economic growth and spur job creation.

Dezhou will launch more measures and policies to boost its capacity to support technological innovation and continue to encourage business startups and innovation.
