Qingzhou, a county-level city in Weifang, Shandong province has been leveraging local homestays to boost rural revitalization and all-for-one tourism.

The phrase "all-for-one tourism" refers to the integrated development of tourism spanning all levels of industry, including rural tourism, industrial tourism, cultural tourism and the service industry.

Qingzhou has nurtured a batch of boutique homestays – they comprise 41 establishments offering nearly 500 guest rooms - in different styles that reflect the city's history and culture.

For example, the Yunmenyin Art Homestay, which is located at the foot of Yunmen Mountain, a national 5A scenic spot, has introduced artists to villages to help revive traditional culture.

The local government has also been organizing training courses and study tours for local homestay owners and tourism enterprises in other cities since 2018. Many themed forums and meetings have also been held to help boost the homestay industry and promote all-for-one tourism.

Qingzhou was one of the political, economic and cultural centers in ancient China. Many renowned historical figures once lived in the region, including Song Dynasty (960-1279) statesmen Fan Zhongyan and Ouyang Xiu as well as the famous female poet Li Qingzhao.

The city is home to over 130 intangible cultural heritage items and nearly 900 sites of cultural relics, among which six sites are on the national protection list.

Qingzhou was approved as a national historical and cultural city by the State Council in 2013.
