State Council honors Shandong for solid policy implementation

A total of 213 cities and counties that have made considerable achievements in implementing major national policies in 2019 will be rewarded with stimulus and support, according to a circular released by the General Office of the State Council on May 8. Of the 213 places honored, a few are from Shandong province.

The move is aimed at creating incentives that encourage local regions to be proactive and creative in pushing forward reform and development.

The achievements that have been honored include preventing financial risk, reducing poverty, tackling pollution, carrying out the rural revitalization, creating a better business environment through administration streamlining, expanding domestic demands, boosting innovation-driven development and safeguarding people's livelihoods.

Shandong's Weifang city and Yishui county will be rewarded for their success in the protection and management of lakes and rivers. Cities that have excelled in the protection of water bodies will be rewarded with 40 million yuan ($5.65 million) while counties will receive 10 million yuan.

Rongcheng, a county-level city in Shandong's Weihai, will receive 20 million yuan for improving the living conditions in its rural areas.

Shandong's Shouguang, a major vegetable production base in China, will receive a special fund to modernize the distribution of agricultural products and develop rural e-commerce.

Jinan, the capital of Shandong, will receive an award for making steady progress in its housing renovation plan for rundown urban areas.

Rizhao will receive 5 million yuan for its comprehensive reform of public hospitals.

Zibo will receive 20 million yuan for its revitalization of an old industrial base and fostering new industries.
