Hubert Aiwanger, vice-governor of the southern German state of Bavaria, recently sent his regards on behalf of the state government to East China's Shandong province in a video.
He said the state shares Shandong's concerns about the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak and has confidence that the province will soon overcome the crisis.
Over the past 33 years, Shandong and Bavaria have maintained a close friendship and made significant achievements in economic cooperation. He expressed hope that regular cultural and economic exchange between the two sides can resume soon.
In the video, he also praised the quick and effective measures Shandong has taken to curb the epidemic and expressed his solidarity with the province.
Shandong and Bavaria officially established sister-province relations in 1987. The two sides signed a consensus to strengthen the strategic relationship in 2017, which marked the 30th anniversary of the partnership.
