The third batch of 121 medical staff from Shandong province left for central Hubei province on Feb 2 to give a hand in fighting the coronavirus outbreak, according to local officials.
The team consisted of 18 doctors, 100 nurses and three officials from the Shandong Health Commission.
Officials said the medical personnel were selected from 18 top hospitals in the province – including the Shandong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Jinan Central Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University and the Binzhou Medical University Hospital.
The medical personnel all have rich experience in the prevention, control and treatment of infectious diseases and life-threatening cases.
They and a batch of medical supplies and equipment were sent to Wuhan by a chartered plane from Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport.
Liu Jiayi, Party chief of Shandong province, went to the airport to see the team off.
