A conference focusing on deepening trade exchanges between Jinan and Bangkok was held in Bangkok, Thailand on Dec 20.

The conference, hosted by the Jinan government, welcomed government officials from the two cities, as well as representatives from more than 20 companies and financial institutions.

Lei Jie, the chairman of the Jinan committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, delivered a keynote speech.

He said that he hoped that the conference can help more Thai businessmen and overseas Chinese in Thailand to better learn about Jinan, as well as promote trade, cultural, and education cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.

Representatives of the Jinan investment promotion bureau also gave an introduction to attendees on the general status of the Jinan area of the  China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, as well as the city's finance and cultural tourism industries, which highlighted Jinan's business environment.

At the conference, representatives from Siam Commercial Bank and Mitr Phol Group, a prominent sugar maker in Thailand, also made remarks about seeking more cooperation with Jinan companies.
