Shandong museums offer night tours

The Shandong Museum and Shandong Art Museum in Jinan, as well as the Confucius Museum in Qufu, will expand their hours and begin offering night tours.

From now until Feb 29, 2020, the Shandong Art Museum will be open from 9:00 to 21:00 Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays; open on national holidays).

The art museum has upgraded its cultural and creative space, coffee shop, restaurant and other related supporting services to offer a better experience to visitors.

Visitors to the Shandong Art Museum can not only admire its many art exhibitions, but also read books, watch movies and performance, listen to lectures, and make handcrafts.

The museum has also launched courses on handicrafts and sketches, in addition to regular cultural and art lectures.

The Shandong Museum will open every Saturday night starting Dec 14 from 17:00 to 21:00. Admissions will be suspended at 20:30.

Shandong Museum has several permanent exhibitions for Buddhist statues, Han dynasty portraits, and Shandong history and culture. It will also open exhibitions for calligraphy, ceramics, glass culture and more.

The Confucius Museum will open every Friday and Saturday night from Dec 13, 2019 to Feb 9, 2020. Its opening hours will be extended to 21:00.

The museum houses 700,000 cultural relics from the Confucius Family Mansion, including ceramics, jade ware, bronze ware, gold and silver objects, books, drawings, clothing, family archives, and well-preserved imperial robes from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
