The first think tank focusing on marine intellectual property rights in China was unveiled in Laoshan district, Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province, on Oct 20.

The platform will provide resources and services for legal protection, commercial cooperation, industrial transformation, and capital operation of marine intellectual property, officials announced at a roadshow for the modern marine industry.

As part of the Qingdao Multinationals Summit, the roadshow attracted a number of experts from China and abroad to participate in in-depth discussions on the innovative development of the marine industry.

During the event, the Shandong Ocean Industry Association also signed cooperation agreements with St-Laurent International Resources Management Inc (SIRM) and the SIRM Qingdao innovation center. The three parties agreed to promote international cooperation in the marine industry.

The roadshow also witnessed the launch of a Qingdao-based research institute for intelligent marine equipment, which will focus on the research and development of sensors, autonomous underwater vehicles, and remotely operated vehicles, as well as the processing and application of ocean observation data.
