Qingdao beer carnival rings down the curtain

The 29th Qingdao International Beer Festival, the largest of its kind in Asia, attracted 7.2 million tourists by the time it closed on Aug 18 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.

During the 24-day festival, Qingdao, birthplace of Tsingtao beer presented more than 1,400 types of beer from all over the world.

The carnival-like celebrations, including more than 600 activities covering music festivals, performances, artistic parades, drinking competitions, light and fireworks shows and trade events, added fun and vitality to the summer in Qingdao.

Artists from more than 20 countries, including Britain, Germany, Australia and Russia also gathered here to entertain revelers.

The first meeting of the world beer festival league was held during the festival, gathering representatives from the Munich Oktoberfest, the Great American Beer Festival and the Toronto Oktoberfest, which has built an international platform for beer festival and cultural exchange and opened a new era for the development of the Qingdao International Beer Festival.
