Taishan district in Tai'an city, Shandong province, hosted a dazzling intangible culture heritage exhibition on June 8 to mark this year's national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day.

The exhibition featured the area's 19 representative intangible cultural heritage items -- including paper cutting, sculptures, traditional cuisine and silverware. Innovative cultural products and exquisite collections from local museums and enterprises also went on display.

Organized by the Taishan district bureau of culture and tourism, the event attracted hordes of visitors.

Brochures about the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and related topics were handed out to visitors in a bid to raise people's awareness of the need for preserving and protecting local cultural relics.

Hands-on activities proved popular with visitors, enabling them to turn their hands to making traditional handicrafts as well as sample traditional cuisine.

The Chinese government has approved the designation of the second Saturday of every June as the national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day since 2017. It fell on June 8 this year.
