"The length symbolizes 81 villages in the town and the plait carries our wish for a good harvest season," said Li Ji'an, deputy head of the town of Baiqiao Shanghe county. Baiqiao is the city's first place specializing in garlic production.
Local media reported that the county now has 10,000 hectares of land used for growing garlic, which produces 230,000 metric tons of garlic annually.
