Shandong extends cooperation with domestic innovation resources

East China's Shandong province is strengthening cooperation with the country's top scientific research institutions and universities to fuel its high-quality development.

The province signed cooperation agreements with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University on April 8 in Beijing to advance cooperation in construction of major scientific research platforms, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and talent cultivation.

During his visit to CAS, Liu Jiayi, Party chief of Shandong, thanked the institution for its long-term support and disinterested assistance in the province's development. 

Liu said that Shandong has entered a critical stage in high-quality development and replacing old growth drivers with new ones. 

He hoped that CAS will continue to give full play to its advantages in technological innovation and talent aggregation to increase cooperation with Shandong-based institutions and enterprises and to promote Shandong's marine scientific development and rural revitalization.

Bai Chunli, president of CAS, said that the academy is glad to see Shandong's unprecedented developmental achievements.

He said that the academy will take the opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Shandong in the construction of major scientific research platforms, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and the integration of scientific research forces, so as to provide more scientific and technological support for Shandong's high-quality development and take mutual cooperation to a new level.

During his visit to Peking University, Liu hoped that the university will give full play to its strengths in talent cultivation and scientific research innovation to support the establishment of major scientific research platforms in Shandong, expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of medical care and cultural industry and strengthen teaching and research cooperation with Shandong-based universities and colleges.
