Shandong eyes integration of culture and tourism

Print PrintEast China's Shandong province will implement updated measures to promote the development of cultural tourism, with the aim of building a more attractive image of the province in 2019.
Authorities of culture and tourism in the province's 16 cities plan to improve service capacity, upgrade promotional activities and enhance markets regulation, according to plans announced at the conference.
Binzhou city will establish and reconstruct a batch of comprehensive service facilities to better show cultural connotations and improve public services.
Fan Haibo, an official from the Binzhou municipal department of culture and tourism, said the city will enrich current tourism routes by adding more scenic spots such as cultural relic protection units, museums and cultural centers.
At the same time, the local government will encourage the development of interactive methods such as digital cultural services and volunteers services to meet visitors' demands.
Tai'an city has also pledged to put an emphasis on enhancing the tourism experience for visitors. The city will employ mobile applications and big data technology to set up intelligent tourism platforms.
In addition, Tai'an plans to construct a consulting services system for tourists and promote local cultural tourism activities by utilizing modern digital media platforms, according to Wang Xinmin, an official from the Tai'an municipal department of culture and tourism.
To promote the image of the city, Yantai will launch a series of cultural tourism activities with local characteristics. The city plans to run advertisements on national-level platforms and take full advantage of the possibilities of the new media.
Weihai city will roll out a series of cultural tourism activities such as large-scale exhibitions, reading events and an international choral singing festival.
Sui Jianbo, director of the Weihai municipal department of culture and tourism, said they will assign promotional staff to introduce air charter services to more cities in Russia and launch high-end tourism products to important overseas markets such as South Korea and Japan.
