The much-anticipated national opera Yimeng Mountain will be staged at the Shandong Provincial Grand Theatre in Jinan, capital of Shandong province on Feb 26, 27 and March 1, according to a news conference convened by the Shandong provincial government on Feb 21.

The Yimeng Mountain area boasts a glorious revolutionary history. Local residents offered tireless dedication to millions of Communist-led soldiers during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the following War of Liberation (1946-49). 

The Yimeng Spirit of hard-working, self-improvement and selfless dedication has inspired generations of Chinese people. 

The opera, produced over two years by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, aims to showcase the outstanding contributions and great sacrifices made by the Yimeng Mountain villagers in the Chinese revolution. 

After the performances in Jinan, the opera will be staged in Beijing in March.
