Qingdao to host 2019 World Leisure Games

The 2019 World Leisure Games will be hosted in Laixi, a county-level of Qingdao, East China's Shandong province from April to October, according to a news conference convened in Beijing on Jan 30.

The event will be jointly organized by the World Leisure Organization, the Qingdao government and the Laixi government.

The World Leisure Organization is a non-profit organization in Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council since 1990.

During the news conference, the emblem and mascot for the event was revealed. Women's archery individual champion Zhang Juanjuan was appointed as the ambassador to promote the event worldwide.

The World Leisure Games is an event created to promote sports as a leisure activity and source of human growth, development and well-being. The first edition was hosted in South Korea's Chuncheon city in 2010 and the second celebration was in 2015 in Laixi, Qingdao, China.
