Weichai project wins first prize in national sci-tech awards

The key technology and application of heavy-duty commercial vehicle powertrain developed by Weichai Power won the first prize in the 2018 National Science and Technology Progress Awards at a grand ceremony held in Beijing, capital of China on Jan 8, 2019.

The national science and technology progress awards, established by the State Council, are the highest level governmental awards in China to honor scientists, engineers, universities, research institutes and companies that have made outstanding contributions to technological invention and science and technology breakthroughs.

Weichai Power is one of the leading companies in the commercial vehicle and automotive space based in Weifang, Shandong province. Specialized in the research and development, manufacturing and sale of diesel engines, it is a subsidiary of Weichai Group, a competitive heavy truck engine and component developer and manufacturer in China.

"The honor is a powerful endorsement for our unremitting efforts in innovation and scientific research over the past decades," said Tan Xuguang, president of Weichai Power.
