Jinan receives 23.8 million tourists during New Year's Day holiday

Jinan, capital of Shandong province, enjoyed a boom in tourism during the New Year's Holiday from Dec 31, 2018 to Jan 1, 2019. 

Eleven scenic spots including Baotu Spring Garden, Qianfo Mountain and Lingyan Temple, received 238,000 tourists, generating revenue of 10.6 million yuan ($1.5million).

Jinan's tourism development committee joined hands with tourism agencies to organize more than 40 activities, helping visitors experience comfortable hot springs, traditional folk customs and splendid cultural feasts.

Baotu Spring Garden, a national 5A scenic spot, was still the most popular tourist attraction in the city, luring a total of 123,000 tourists. 

Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area held a New Year's climbing campaign with a series of prayer activities such as sending out Chinese written character "fu"(福) which means blessings and good fortune. 

A skiing tour and hot spring tour proved to be a holiday hit. Four major skiing resorts, including Jinxiang Mountain and Xiangcao Park skiing resorts, received 35,000 tourists, up 17.6 percent year-on-year. Shanghe Hot Spring Scenic Spot received more than 4,000 tourists during the three days. 

Folk festival activities were also popular. Furong Alley, a street known for local snacks, staged intangible cultural heritage performances and set out dazzling local delicacies to lure tourists. A series of folk activities was also on display in Jinan's Licheng, Changqing, Zhangqiu and Pingyin districts.
