Print PrintTaierzhuang ancient town, located in Zaozhuang, East China's Shandong province, embraced its first winter snow fall on Dec 11 and the scenic area turned into a winter wonderland.
Surrounded by the waterway of the time-honored Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the two-square-kilometer town is the only remaining ancient town well preserved along the canal.
As a popular tourism destination, the ancient town offers picturesque water town landscapes, with its classical bridges, wetland parks, temples, museums and numerous traditional architectural buildings of bygone eras.
The ancient town is also the site of the Battle of Taierzhuang, an important victory during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).
