A Chinese ink-wash painting exhibition jointly hosted by the Shandong Art Museum and the Sydney Chinese Cultural Center was hosted from Dec 11 to 13 in Sydney, Australia.

A total of 46 works by 23 Chinese painting masters were displayed at the exhibition.

Curated by the Shandong Art Museum, the exhibition was supported by the China National Arts Fund, with the aim of introducing Chinese ink-wash painting art to the world and strengthening international cultural exchanges.  

In his speech, Yang Zhi, cultural counselor of the Chinese embassy in Australia, said that the Sydney Chinese Cultural Center has played an active role in promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Australia.

"Featuring landscapes, figures and flowers and birds, the exhibits displayed techniques of both elaborate-style painting and freehand brushwork, and through the sharing of Chinese traditional painting art techniques, more local people will get to understand Chinese culture," Yang added.

Chen Shuang, director of Sydney Chinese Cultural Center, said that more Australian people will have a better understanding of Chinese ink-wash paintings and see the development of contemporary Chinese ink art through the exhibition.
