The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a regular press conference on the afternoon of Sept 17, with spokesman Geng Shuang answering questions from Chinese and international journalists.

According to Geng, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Shandong provincial government will hold a Shandong Global Promotion Activity under the theme of "China in the New Era: New Shandong with New Growth Drivers, A Win-Win for the World". The activity will start at 9:30 am on Sept 20 at Lanting (the Blue Hall) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  

During the promotion event, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will deliver speeches, as will Shandong Party Secretary Liu Jiayi and Gong Zheng, governor of Shandong province. Foreign diplomats in China will also be invited to speak and exchange ideas. 

In recent years, Shandong has firmly practiced the new development concept, advanced supply-side structural reform in an in-depth way, taken the lead in replacing old growth drivers with new ones, and vigorously boosted high-quality economic development. As a result, it has made important achievements and set a good example in building a province with strong ocean industries. It has developed into a new front-runner of opening-up, implementing the rural revitalization strategy and carrying forward fine traditional culture. 

The promotional activities will focus on Shandong's shifting from old growth drivers to new ones, economic transformation and upgrading and continuous expansion of opening-up in order to show the profound historical culture and development potential of Shandong.
