China, Japan engage in IT opportunities

Print PrintThe 16th Sino-Japan Information Technology Services Industry Talk, held on July 27 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province, received more than 300 Chinese and Japanese visitors from renowned enterprises, influential international organizations and research institutes.
Themed on "new beginning, new integration and new momentum", the event held talks on the development trend of software industry, service outsourcing and related fields. The event was a bid to promote cooperation in the IT industry between China and Japan and target future business growth points.
Li Zijun, deputy mayor of Jinan, introduced the main advantages of investing and starting business in Jinan at the opening ceremony.
According to Li, for a long time Jinan has maintained close exchanges with many Japanese cities. Renowned Japanese enterprises such as Sumitomo Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation have established branches in Jinan, while Jinan-based companies such as Inspur Group and Linuo Group have also set up branches in Japan.
"The event, designed to explore new ways for China and Japan to cooperate in the IT industry and discuss business growth points for mutual cooperation, is of great significance to fuel the development of IT industry for both sides," said Li.
Li also welcomed more investment and business operations from Japanese enterprises to Jinan as the city is in a crucial period towards achieving leapfrog development.
Lu Shan, director of CCID, a research institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information of China, said in his speech that Jinan has accumulated great experience in the cooperation with Japan in the field of information service, which is worthy of our referral.
He added that both China and Japan enjoy sound momentum in the development of information service industry and both are complementary to one another and share many common interests surrounding the industry.
The Sino-Japan Information Technology Services Industry Talk, jointly organized by the China Software Industry Association and the Japan Information Industry Association, used to be one of the highest level events in software and information services between China and Japan.
The first edition was held in Beijing in 1996 and after that it was held annually in China and Japan in rotation. The event was suspended for seven years after the 15th edition was held in Qingdao in 2011.
