With summer in full swing, Dongping, a county-level city in Tai'an, East China's Shandong province, has become a perfect place to escape the scorching summer heat.
Being the hometown of Luo Guanzhong, the author of Water Margin (also known as Outlaws of the Marsh), one of China's four great classics, Dongping boasts several natural and cultural scenic spots, including the Dongping Lake, the only remaining lake mentioned in the classic novel, the Dongping Water Margin Studio City, Daicun Dam, a major water conservation project in Chinese history and Baifo Mountain, which is home to 134 ancient grotto sculptures.
