An exhibition of Shandong Publishing Group (SPG) at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and the Arab-China Belt and Road Publishing and Copyright Fair was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Center on April 25, 2018.

The Belt and Road Publishing and Copyright Fair highlighted about 30 themed activities, including a forum on Arab-China Belt and Road publishing cooperation, an inauguration ceremony for the Chinese book editorial department of Kuttab Publishing Company, an unveiling ceremony of Nishan Bookshelf settling in Dubai and a signing ceremony for an agreement between Shandong Publishing & Media Co (SPMC) and IPR License, a global rights and licensing trading platform.

Liu Bing, an official of the Shandong provincial department of publicity, applauded SPG for its efforts on promoting innovation development of Chinese traditional culture.

To Liu, the fair has built a platform to popularize Chinese culture around the world.

"The various activities, cooperation and communication have helped enhance brand image and global influence of the Belt and Road Publishing and Copyright Fair, strengthened the worldwide popularity of SPMC-published books about Chinese culture, boosted Arab-China publishing cooperation and cultural exchange, and advanced mutual learning of civilization," said Wang Cizhong, a member of the board of SPG.

The opening ceremonies were followed by a launching ceremony of the translation project (Arabic language) on Qilu (the name of Shandong province in ancient times) cultural classics and an unveiling ceremony of Arabic books about sayings of Chinese great thinkers in the past, with the first batch of books covering quotations of Laozi, Confucius, Zhuangzi, Mencius, Mozi, Sunzi and Han Feizi.

Translation of Qilu cultural classics is a key project of the Shandong provincial department of publicity. It was initiated in 2015 with the aim of encouraging and supporting Shandong's publishers to enhance publishing collaboration and copyright trading with overseas publishers, push forward the publication of copyright-exported books, and expand the international reputation of Qilu culture.
