Shandong opens Nishan House in Nepal

Print PrintThe Shandong Friendship Publishing House launched a Nishan House bookshop at the Confucius Institute of Kathmandu University on Nov 19 in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal.
The book house is the first of its kind in Nepal and it is the 28th overseas branch of Nishan House, a bookstore chain created by the Shandong Friendship Publishing House as an important project to carry forward the fine traditional Chinese culture and push the "going-out" strategy of Chinese culture.
Nishan, or Mount Ni, is regarded as the birthplace of Confucius.

More than 60 representatives from Shandong government, Shandong Friendship Publishing House and Kathmandu University took part in the unveiling ceremony of the bookstore.
Bijay KC, director of the KU' School of Management, extended a warm welcome in his speech for the coming of the Shandong delegation. He said that KU' students and faculty members will learn more about the excellent traditional Chinese culture and Qilu culture by reading books provided by the Nishan House bookstore.
He added that the settlement of Nishan House bookstore is of great importance in promoting cultural relationship between China and Nepal and it will help build up mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

Wang Lei, director of the Shandong provincial department of culture, said that the Nishan House is an important cooperative platform for cultural exchanges built by Shandong province, which will provide more books on Chinese culture and Qilu culture and conduct varied activities to enhance multi-tiered and multi-form cultural exchanges between the two peoples.
Founded in 1986, the Shandong Friendship Publishing House is a professional publishing company affiliated with the Shandong Publishing Group. It has set up several branches that implement the going-out strategy of culture.
