Print PrintXi Jin is a fruit-pit carving craftsman who lives in the Dayu cultural village in Kuiwen district, Weifang city.
Xi's carvings are exquisite and cover a wide range of subjects. Since these carvings are completely hand-made, the price of each handicraft ranges from 30,000 yuan ($4,772) to 200,000 yuan.
Xi said he taught himself how to carve fruit-pits when he was young.

"I taught myself for 9 years, since nobody could teach me. There were only about 10 people who could do this traditional craft at that time. Now, there are nearly 500 people who have mastered the technique of fruit-pit carving, and our craftsmen league is expanding."
Fruit-pit carving has been included on Shandong's list of provincial intangible cultural heritages.
