Qingdao Experimental Junior High School, previously named Qingdao Yucai Middle School, was founded on the model of Qingdao No 2 Middle School in 2000. 

The school emphasizes characteristic education and has achieved outstanding results in the arts and sports field. It also won the team championship of the National Chess Competition for four successive years and has represented China at international chess competitions.
