The 2024 Dongyue Temple Fair was kicked off at the Dai Temple in Mount Tai Scenic Area in Tai'an on April 27 and will last until May 5.

This year's event consists of traditional temple fair activities and a biennial calligraphy exhibition.

The temple fair activities include a cultural market, an intangible cultural heritage (ICH) creative products market, a tea performance, a martial arts performance, and over 200 booths offering nearly 1,000 products, including recreational items, food, and general merchandise.

The calligraphy biennial exhibition, jointly held by the China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation, is showcasing classical poetry, literature, and songs related to Mount Tai culture.

During the exhibition, an academic seminar on the protection and cultural preservation of Mount Tai stone carvings and a related academic conference are scheduled to be organized.

Dongyue Temple Fair was included in the second group national ICH items in 2008 and now stands as one of Mount Tai's most vibrant folk cultural landscapes as well as one of China's most popular temple fairs.

In recent years, Mount Tai Scenic Area has attached great importance to the protection of the culture surrounding the Dongyue Temple Fair to boost cultural tourism industries.
