Taste buds tringled as the Shandong Jianbing-making Skills Competition took place on April 9 in Feicheng – a county-level city of Tai'an in East China's Shandong province – held as a side event during the Feicheng Peach Blossom Festival.

Featured during the event was the Shandong jianbing – a homemade dry, thin, paper-like pancake.

Competitors crafted pancakes as thin as cicada wings, that produced irresistible aromas.

In the exhibition area, humble lumps of batter were transformed by skillful makers into colorful creations that came in some wonderful shapes. Some were shaped into exquisite flowers, blooming like works of art; others were decorated with auspicious patterns, symbolizing good wishes.

The event not only offered a visual and culinary feast to the public, but also injected new vitality into the quality improvement and brand building of Shandong pancakes.
