Shandong, Bahamas forge cultural ties

On Aug 10, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism hosted a culture and tourism promotion conference in the Bahamas. More than 60 people attended the event, including members of the Shandong delegation and local representatives from the culture and tourism sector.

According to a Bahamian representative, the Bahamas-China Friendship Association was founded in 2004 and its 20th anniversary is next month. Today's event aims to foster greater cooperation between the two countries in the areas of economy, culture, and education.

The conference also featured a series of exhibitions, including a Shandong historical and scenic exhibition, Shandong ink painting exhibition of folding fans, Weifang kite exhibition, Yangjiabu woodblock New Year painting exhibition, and intangible cultural heritage assistance for the disabled achievements exhibition.

The event offered Bahamians a glimpse into Shandong's rich heritage, and representatives from both sides expressed optimism that this gathering would serve as a catalyst for deepening people-to-people exchanges and advancing cooperation between the two regions.
