Focusing on Chinese-style modernization, Shandong delegates are earnestly fulfilling their duties, proposing suggestions and recommendations to convey public opinion.

Li Wenlong, a deputy to the National People's Congress and chief expert of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co Ltd, has participated in the assembly and manufacture of high-speed trains and maglev transportation systems.

"Through research, I feel that forming new quality productive forces requires innovation, technology and talent," Li said.

Wang Qinfeng, another NPC deputy and head of the research team for electrical discharge machining at Shandong-based Himile Group, focuses on grassroots innovation. In 2023, he made progress in projects such as the six-axis linked EDM forming machine tool and continuous fluidized bed equipment technology.

"Shandong is rich in marine resources, and there is vast potential for comprehensively developing a modern and strong marine province in the new era," said Sun Li, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and researcher at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, who has been conducting research on marine biology and aquaculture in Qingdao for many years. In 2023, she conducted multiple investigations into improvements in the quality and efficiency of traditional marine industries and is confident in Shandong's efforts to strengthen its modern marine fisheries.

Also focusing on the development of the marine economy is Zheng Deyan, an NPC deputy and mayor of Yantai, a city in Shandong.  "We will develop a complete industrial chain integrating primary, secondary and tertiary industries, including high-quality seedlings, deep-sea aquaculture, fishery equipment, deep processing, modern logistics, cultural tourism and leisure," said Zheng.

Industries are of paramount importance in boosting high-quality development. In recent years, the city of Tai'an in Shandong has vigorously promoted new industrialization and developed a modern industrial system based on its four pillar industries, four advantageous sectors and the digital economy.

"We will strive to accelerate the industrial economy, attract key projects and enhance the quality, efficiency and comprehensive competitiveness of industrial development," said Li Lanxiang, an NPC deputy and mayor of Tai'an.
