The hanfu, a traditional style of clothing worn by the Han Chinese, from Weifang, Shandong, made a remarkable appearance in Bangkok, Thailand on New Year's Day, drawing attention.

Different from other hanfu that were made of cloth, the hanfu displayed, designed by Xu Xiaoling, the heir of Changyi Kuiju paper-cutting, was made of cut paper. Changyi is a county-level city under the administration of Weifang today, and the outfit featured a five-meter red robe adorned with a vibrant display of flowers, becoming a visual highlight on the streets of Bangkok and showcasing the beauty of traditional Chinese-themed red.

The paper-cut Hanfu incorporated the classic phoenix and peony pattern, skillfully crafted using the paper-cutting techniques of Changyi by Xu and her apprentice Li Fengjie.

Li, on a family visit to Thailand, brought the paper-cut hanfu with him, which was presented by his daughter. The magnificent attire captivated onlookers, sparking a growing interest in Changyi paper-cutting in Thailand. This fusion of tradition and craftsmanship has not only impressed the local audience but also initiated a growing trend of paper-cutting appreciation in Thailand.
