The inauguration ceremony of China's first muscle stem cell bank was held at the Jinan Bio-med Harbor on Jan 7.

This new development means Jinan is the first in China to integrate muscle stem cell storage, research and development, pharmaceutical-grade cell product development, and the research and production of medical devices and cosmetics.

Numerous academicians and scholars from both home and abroad gathered in Jinan during the ceremony to provide suggestions and contribute to the high-quality development of the stem cell industry in Shandong.

The muscle stem cell bank was established by a Sino-foreign joint venture company, which was founded by a team led by Chinese entrepreneur Mou Xiaodong.

Mou's team has developed and mastered highly efficient isolation and extraction techniques for human high-activity muscle stem cells, as well as 3D cultivation technology. They have also achieved large-scale production of extracellular vesicles and developed ultrafiltration-based collection techniques.

Moreover, they have pioneered the technology for extracting, storing, and applying high-activity muscle stem cells and extracellular vesicles from traumatized human muscle tissue, including medical waste tissue. The team also owns an independent intellectual property right for the technology.
