The traditional Chinese solar calendar divides each year into 24 solar terms, and the Awakening of Insects (惊蛰) fell on March 6 and ends on March 20 this year.

The Awakening of Insects signals a rise in temperature and increased rainfall. As the third solar term of the solar year, its name alludes to the fact that animals sleeping during winter  are awakened by spring thunder and the earth begins to wake up. It is also the key time for spring agricultural activities.
