The 2022 Shandong Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week kicked off in Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, on Sept 15, and a slew of activities were launched in the 15 branch venues across the province the same day.

The event, which is themed on "Innovation drives vitality, entrepreneurship creates employment", is scheduled to run through Sept 21. A wide range of new products, technologies and ideas are on display at the event.

A Shandong senior official said at the opening ceremony that encouraging mass entrepreneurship and innovation helps foster new growth drivers, stimulate market vitality and unlock social creativity. Government departments at all levels are expected to continue to offer more platforms and opportunities to create a strong atmosphere of mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

The city's top official addressed the opening ceremony by saying that Yantai is one of the first coastal cities in China to open up to the outside world. The city has made great efforts to deepen reforms and opening-up, and promote innovation-driven development. Yantai will continue to improve its business environment and create a more suitable atmosphere for widespread innovation and entrepreneurship in order to maintain the development goal of making it a significant growth pole for Shandong's development.
