Spring Festival couplet production in full swing in Weifang village

As Chinese New Year approaches, Donglijia village in Gaomi, Weifang, Shandong province, is bustling with round-the-clock production and wholesale buyers. Known for its Spring Festival couplets and traditional New Year paintings, the village is currently a sea of festive red.

The industry is the village's primary economic engine, involving over 60 percent of its residents. Each year, Donglijia produces nearly 3,000 metric tons of these traditional paper goods, which are sold in markets nationwide.

Once a local folk craft, this "signature industry" has evolved into a vital economic pillar. By blending cultural heritage with high-yield manufacturing, the couplet trade now serves as the primary source of income for the village, driving significant regional growth.
