Weifang, Shandong province, has been named one of China's 2025 Dynamic Cities, according to the latest 2025 Dynamic City IP Index report released by China Newsweek. This recognition underscores the city's exceptional vitality, growth potential, and competitive advantages across various sectors.
The report evaluates cities based on factors such as cultural vitality, consumption, city IP, and innovation.

Weifang has made impressive strides in industrial development, ranking 32nd among China's top 100 advanced manufacturing cities. Boasting a diverse industrial landscape comprising 37 major categories, the city is home to 4,758 enterprises above the designated size. Its industrial output and operating revenue both exceed 1.2 trillion yuan (approximately $169.8 billion). Weifang is also a leader in emerging technologies, hosting 19 national 5G factories and five smart manufacturing plants.
In agriculture, Weifang plays a vital role, with an agricultural output value of 135.87 billion yuan in 2024. The city has developed five industrial value chains, each worth over one trillion yuan in key sectors such as vegetables, livestock, and corn. It is also home to China's first National Comprehensive Pilot Agriculture Zone, with agricultural exports surpassing 10 billion yuan for six consecutive years.
Culturally, Weifang's heritage is unrivaled. All 12 of its counties and districts boast over a thousand years of history. The city leads the nation in preserving intangible cultural heritage and hosts China's only national-level cultural protection zone in Shandong. Weifang is also home to the largest municipal intangible cultural heritage museum in northern China.
Weifang's innovation capacity is strong, having won the National Award for Science and Technology Progress four times. The city boasts four provincial-level high-tech zones, ranking first in the province, with total R&D investment exceeding 20 billion yuan. It is home to 2,239 high-tech enterprises and 3,956 technology-driven SMEs, accounting for 61.39 percent of the city's industrial output.
