Weifang, Shandong province, hosted a high-level delegation from Ecuador from May 27 to 30, taking a new step in its sister-city partnership with Guaranda and expanding cooperation in modern agriculture and trade.

The delegation, led by Inti Andres Yumbay Taris, mayor of Guaranda, also included leaders from Urcuqui and Saquisili. During the visit, they engaged with Weifang's leading agricultural sectors, touring the 26th China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo, the National Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Agricultural Opening-Up and Development, and several local enterprises.

Discussions with Weifang officials and businesses focused on opportunities in digital agriculture, smart equipment, greenhouse innovation, and agribusiness cooperation. At a meeting with Weifang Mayor Liu Jianjun, both sides emphasized their shared interest in advancing modern farming techniques, machinery, and renewable energy applications. Mayor Yumbay praised Weifang's prosperity and agricultural expertise, expressing hopes for deeper collaboration that delivers tangible results.

Weifang and Guaranda established sister-city relations in 2020, and their partnership has since extended to education, culture, and public health. This latest exchange is seen as adding fresh momentum, with both cities committed to turning dialogue into concrete cooperation in agriculture and beyond.
