Weifang's greening initiatives transforming cityscape

Weifang, a city dedicated to environmental sustainability, has been leading transformative greening initiatives since 2006. By focusing on enhancing urban greenery, the city has implemented innovative approaches to revitalize its landscapes and encourage community involvement.

Under the theme of "green homes, green Weifang," a series of social greening activities have been launched to inspire and mobilize social forces towards greening and beautifying their surroundings.

Over the past two decades, Weifang has conducted more than 20 initiatives, including the distribution of over 620,000 seedlings, greening community areas, providing free design consultations, and offering greening knowledge experiences. These efforts have impacted over 300 units, communities, and villages, involving more than 150,000 citizens.

The impact of these initiatives extends beyond the physical transformation of the cityscape. Weifang's dedication to urban greening has earned it accolades such as a National Garden City, a National Civilized City, and a National Forest City, fostering a deeper appreciation among residents for the beauty of their urban environment.

Weifang has also been exploring open and shared models for urban park green spaces. By opening and sharing 57 green areas, totaling over 3 million square meters, the city has provided residents with ample opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and a closer connection to nature.

Through its commitment to sustainable urban development and community engagement, Weifang continues to set an example for cities striving to create greener, more livable environments for all.
