Livable Weifang thrives with innovation, high-quality growth

With Weifang opening up more quickly, an increasing number of foreigners are coming to the city to work, study, and live.

The 2024 China Urban Livable City Index Analysis Report ranks Weifang 45th among the top 100 livable cities in the country, 22 places higher than last year.

Weifang is focused on creating a pleasant and comfortable climate that supports vibrant industrial development and enhances residents' well-being.

By using new quality productive forces to drive industrial development, advanced manufacturing and modern agriculture are strengthening Weifang's competitive edge. The city is committed to promoting industrialization and strengthening the manufacturing industry, aiming to build a modern industrial system.

Key industries such as power equipment, high-end chemicals, and new-generation information technology are progressing, while emerging industries like industrial robotics, magnetic technology, new energy, and new materials are flourishing. With 2,196 high-tech enterprises and 1,228 specialized high-quality enterprises growing quickly, the advanced manufacturing sector is significantly contributing to the city's development.

Modern agriculture is also a strong pillar of Weifang's growth. By revitalizing and strengthening agriculture and continuously expanding innovative agricultural models, the city is enhancing agricultural modernization through new practices and research, leading to a thriving modern agricultural sector.

In 2024, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery in the city reached 135.87 billion yuan ($18.71 billion), ranking first in the province.

Weifang is leading in innovation and practical work and is driving high-quality development to new heights. Last year, the city's GDP grew by 5.9 percent to 820.32 billion yuan.

Additionally, the city has worked hard to create a pleasant and comfortable environment, enhancing its overall livability and charm.

"In recent years, I have personally felt that the sky is bluer, the land is greener, and the water is clearer. It has become more livable here," said Yu Linlin, a native of Weifang, reflecting on the city's improved ecological environment.
