Weifang's Party secretary Liu Yun delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the significance of the marine economy as a pivotal driver of high-quality development. He urged all departments to align with central and provincial directives, tailoring them to Weifang's unique needs. "Marine development is a critical variable in future progress," Liu stated, calling for the strategic and comprehensive utilization of marine resources.

In recent years, Weifang has achieved notable advancements in marine industries, port capacity, innovation, and ecological preservation. Moving forward, the city will focus on a distinctive development path marked by land-sea integration, technological leadership, industrial clustering, and ecological balance.

Key initiatives include enhancing marine industrial parks, transforming sectors like marine chemicals, biopharmaceuticals, and power equipment, and fostering emerging industries such as renewable energy and marine tourism. Plans are also underway to expand port capacity in collaboration with Shandong Port Group and to protect marine ecosystems through sustainable development efforts.

The conference concluded with the recognition of contributors to marine development and the sharing of experiences of local districts, solidifying Weifang's commitment to becoming a leading force in China's marine economy.
