Tai'an's Xintai forges new industrial path through innovation
Xintai city in Tai'an, Shandong province, is accelerating its industrial transformation through the systematic development of industrial chains. A prime example is the electronic-grade new materials industrial park, where Shandong Xingtai Silicon Materials Technology operates a cutting-edge facility producing 5,000 metric tons of electronic-grade silane annually with a purity exceeding 99 percent, ending China's dependence on imported high-end semiconductor gases.
The park exemplifies Xintai's targeted investment approach, which focuses on high-end equipment, chemicals, and digital economy sectors. By establishing 11 external investment teams across key cities and coordinating multiple departments, the city signed 55 chain-extension projects in the first half of this year, with 24 already under construction. Among 167 key projects, 151 have commenced and 43 have been completed, injecting strong momentum into Xintai's industrial growth.
Infrastructure development has been crucial to this progress. Xintai has built over 1.09 million square meters of standardized and customized factory spaces across 20 township-level industrial parks.
Supply chain optimization has further strengthened industrial competitiveness. Platforms like Shandong Daoheng have helped reduce raw material costs by 20 to 40 yuan per ton while improving production efficiency by over 20 percent in sectors such as lifting machinery.
Supporting these efforts, Xintai has optimized land supply systems and secured substantial financial resources, including 1.91 billion yuan in government bonds and 5.8 billion yuan in corporate credit support. The city's development strategy focusing on economy, projects, and industry has led to 7.8 percent growth in industrial value-added and 14.3 percent growth in technological renovation investment during the first half.
From electronic materials breakthroughs to circular economy clusters, Xintai's chain-focused industrialization offers a replicable model for resource-based cities in transition, demonstrating how systematic industrial planning can transform local economies.
