Taishan district, Tai'an lies in the middle of East China's Shandong province. It is the political, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural center of the city, where the Tai'an Municipal Party Committee and the Tai'an Municipal People's Government are also located. The district borders Jinan, the capital of Shandong province, and Qufu, the hometown of Confucius. The district covers a total area of 336 square kilometers and has a total population of 1.1 million.

In 2023, Taishan district's gross regional product (GDP) hit 56.8 billion yuan ($7.9 billion), an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the previous year. The district's residents' per capita disposable income increased by 5.1 percent over the previous year. (Economic figures updated on March 14)

Taishan district has been a talent hotspot since ancient times, today it remains a hub for science, education, and culture. The district is home to five secondary vocational schools, six high schools, 25 secondary schools, 54 elementary schools, 240 kindergartens and one special school.

In addition, foreign economic relations and trade in the city have developed rapidly due to the proper utilization of foreign investment. Imports and exports, foreign contracted projects, and labor service cooperation have all shown strong growth, and foreign economic and trade cooperation has strong future potential. The city sees at least 300 million yuan in trade and investment every year.

Taishan district has been home to many renowned historical figures. It has also long been home to many merchants, leading to a strong tourism industry. In addition, many emperors came to the district to worship the sacred Mount Tai, and saints throughout all dynasties came to enjoy its natural scenery and create works of art. It attracts a large number of tourists from China and abroad every year.

Taishan district, located at the foot of Mount Tai, has transformed from a place of worship for emperors into a modern city integrating industry and commerce, finance, science and technology, culture, and tourism. It deftly fuses both ancient and modern culture.
