Tai'an city stages events to celebrate 44th World Food Day

Oct 16 marked the 44th World Food Day, when a series of events were launched in the county level city of Feicheng – under the administration of  Tai'an city in East China's Shandong province.

Chang Xukuo, executive vice-mayor of Tai'an, said that in recent years Tai'an had strictly protected its arable land, introduced high-standard farmland and achieved consecutive bumper harvests in food production.

What's more, the city has diligently implemented national food procurement policies and significantly enhanced the capacity for its grain storage and regulation.

To top it off, special research has been conducted to plan the development of the Tai'an pancake sector – aiming to build on the regional brand of Shandong pancakes with significant achievements in grain brand cultivation.

Meng Jun, deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Grain and Material Reserve Bureau, said that as a major province in grain production, consumption and processing transformation, Shandong had strengthened its responsibilities as a major province. It had stabilized the development of grain production and enhanced legal guarantees for grain conservation and the reduction of losses, contributing to national food security with the strength of Shandong.
