Tai'an in East China's Shandong province has been selected for the second consecutive year as one of the five cities in the province to receive policy incentives to boost foreign trade.

In 2023, Tai'an made significant strides in promoting the stable and innovative development of foreign trade. It achieved a total import and export volume of 45.76 billion yuan ($6.3 billion), a 23.1-percent year-on-year increase and the second-highest growth rate in the province. Its cross-border e-commerce import and exports reached 15.9 billion yuan, 43.2-percent year-on-year growth. The growth rate of machinery, electronics, and high-tech product exports surpassed the provincial average.

The city's success can be attributed to its focus on strengthening foreign trade entities. Tai'an has carried out various trade matchmaking activities, nurtured and expanded corporate entities, and expanded the export of mechanical and high-tech products.

As part of efforts to bolster foreign trade, Tai'an has implemented a series of measures, including tailored training, precise services, expansion of export channels, breakthroughs in cross-border e-commerce, and enhancement of international operational capabilities.

Tai'an's market expansion efforts have also been commendable. In 2023, the city saw 350 companies participate in over 90 domestic and international trade shows, resulting in an intended transaction volume of 1.7 billion yuan.

The city has also established the Tai'an Cross-border E-commerce Enterprise Association and the Cross-border E-commerce Industry-Education-Research Integration Base.
