A forum on developing the night economy of Dasong Everbright City in Dongping county of Tai'an city was held to seek new opportunities for sustained growth of the local economy Nov, 2023.

Dongping, the birthplace of Shuihu culture (Shuihu Zhuan, or the Water Margin, is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature), is at the junction of the Yellow River and China's Great Canal and boasts the scenic Dongping Lake.

Based on its natural and cultural resources, the county opened Dasong Everbright City, a Song Dynasty (960-1279) theme resort combining Yellow River culture and Taishan Mountain culture, in January as a major effort to boost culture and tourism and other related industries together.

The resort has received as many as 2.77 million visitors since its opening and is emerging as a new internet celebrity spot in Shandong, according to Ma Huanjun, Party secretary of the county.

Attendees to the forum took part in discussions on supporting policies, infrastructure, industry innovations and industry integration. The forum is part of the winter tour campaign in Dongping consisting of other tourism and culture activities. The campaign will last until February.
