Tai'an makes progress in assisting rural vitalization in Xinjiang

Tai'an city's efforts to assist with the rural vitalization of Yuepuhu county of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have been fruitful, as the collective income of the demonstration villages in Yuepuhu county has increased by 11 percent while the per capita disposable income of farmers has increased by 11.5 percent.

The team from Tai'an has been helping cultivate the figs and fennel industries in the region. In 2023, the planting area of figs and fennel is expected to reach 73.33 square kilometers and 81.33 sq km respectively and account for 5 percent and 65 percent of the national production.

This year, Tai'an has invested 6 million yuan ($843,212.06) to promote a fig-picking orchard in the county. The orchard is expected to receive more than 100,000 visitors and sell over 1,000 metric tons of fresh figs throughout the year. At the same time, a fig deep processing plant with an annual output of 450 tons of fruit jam, dried fruit, and other products has gone into production.

The Tai'an team in the region has also focused on the deep processing of agricultural products and cotton textiles. For example, they have organized 29 out-of-town investment promotion activities and six promotional activities, negotiations for 65 projects, and signed 19 intended deals worth 1.37 billion yuan.

The Tai'an team has also invested 6.3 million yuan into the renovation of the living environments of seven villages in the demonstration area in the county. Three sports fields, including football fields and badminton courts, have been built to provide leisure spaces for residents.
