Confucius Institute's ICH Center opens in Tai'an

The Confucius Institute's ICH (intangible cultural heritage) Center in Tai'an, Shandong province was unveiled on Feb 3.

The center is the first ICH education practice base in Tai'an. Under the guidance of the Confucius Foundation of China, the base was set up by Shandong Hongdao Yide Cultural Communication Co, Ltd, with a display, study and training area of about 400 square meters. At present, Taishan Dacheng Boxing, Daizong Chuantuo, Taishan Zhaoying paper-cutting and other municipal ICH projects have been included. In addition, educational practice activities are regularly carried out every week, so that the community and the residents can experience them.

The city is home to substantial ICH resources, with 12 national ICH items, 59 at the provincial level, 489 at the municipal level and 861 at the county level.

Tai'an also boasts inheritors at four national, 20 provincial, 187 municipal and 400 county levels, as well as at six provincial ICH education practice bases, 30 municipal ICH education practice bases and 67 ICH workshops.

The city aims to widely mobilize social forces to participate in ICH protection, and boost the creative transformation, innovative development and influence of local ICH items.
